Polytech at Sochi Fashion Week
Antonina Karapapas, a fourth-year student of the Department of Costume and Textile Design named after N.G. Mizonova, presented a collection of clothes at Sochi Fashion Week.
The right to present your brand at the main fashion event in the South of Russia Antonina Karapapas received, becoming a finalist of the All-Russian competition of young designers "Tochcka RU". The guests of the personal fashion show in Sochi warmly welcomed her collection "The Light of My Eyes", in which Antonina demonstrates interpretation techniques in a modern costume of traditional Russian embroidery.
Specially for the project, an author's drawing was created on the basis of ancient Ivanovo calico of the 17th and 18th centuries, special shapes were made, with their help, the drawing was manually transferred to the fabric and supplemented with beadwork. Five of the eleven images of the collection will be included in the thesis, which Tonya is preparing under the guidance of an associate professor of the department Tatiana Shcherbakova.
"All Antonina's projects are dedicated to Russian culture and traditions. The graduation collection will not be an exception," Tatyana Leonidovna notes. In it, Tonya went further and developed the idea of using an antique print in a modern suit. She prints the drawing on top of the lace, thereby achieving the creation of an unusual original texture of the fabric. The overall impression is complemented by voluminous elements in the products: sleeves, flounces, assemblies, as well as quilted details. We will see very soon how the author's vision of traditional craft coincides with modern aesthetics and fashion trends. Antonina Karapapas is expected to defend her thesis project in June.
