On February 15, students, teachers and staff of the Polytechnic University held an hour of history dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad. Felix Kagan, the oldest employee of our university, told the participants about the bloodiest battle in the history of mankind.
Felix Iosifovich Kagan, a veteran and a man who survived the war and saw its hardships with his own eyes, said that during the war everything began with announcements on the radio. Then they were big black plates. The whole country listened to the call signs "My native country is wide" and the voice of Yuri Levitan with a sinking heart. People rejoiced when they heard that the battle of Stalingrad ended with the victory of our troops.
Documentaries of that time, Vladimir Vysotsky's song "We Rotate the Earth", greeting cards of previous years issued on this date, photographs of the monument-ensemble "Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad" and the sculpture "Motherland calls!" on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd helped to create an emotional atmosphere in the audience and remind about the exploits of our people.
