Designers defense of graduation works: every project is an event, every student is an individual
June 24th at the Department of Costume Design and Textiles. N.G. Mizonova defended diploma projects of students studying in the educational program "The Art of Costume and Textile" in two profiles "Textile Design" and "Costume Design".
The author's style of the Ivanovo school of textile design is well known in Russia and abroad. One of the oldest departments of the Polytechnic University has been repeatedly recognized as the "Best School of Fashion in Russia" and "The Best School of Design in Russia". And this year, a team of teachers and students set themselves a difficult task - to develop collections of clothing and textiles for regional manufacturers. That is, to offer Ivanovo companies samples of fabrics and clothes that people want to buy, and not just look at the podium.
Throughout the year, students and teachers, under the guidance of the head of the department Olga Surikova, worked in partnership with KhBKShuiskie calico JSC, the sewing companies Detline, Protex PIR, Vioteks, Detsky Boom, Vilana, Home Style, Knitwear Natalie. It was not easy to adapt the author's vision, stylistic aesthetics, philosophical concepts to the strict requirements of customers, but the students, who already had experience in performing such work through the Textile and Light Industry Competence Center operating at the university, passed this professional test with honor.
The prints for fabrics and clothing models presented in the collections, as well as precisely adjusted proportions, deft mixing of different textures, competent use of color: from natural shades hit this season to neon flashes, definitely did not go unnoticed. And above all, experienced production workers who seem to have become responsible for the new fashion. The fashion for attracting the students of the department to the development of Ivanovo fashion brands with their vivid vision of trends and styles.
Two Ivanovo companies Detline and Vioteks became the legislators of this movement, after which dozens of other Ivanovo companies “reached out” to the Center of Competence of the Textile and Light Industry of the Polytechnic University. Along with "Shui calico", "TDL-Tekstil", "Mirteks", which provide fabrics for student collections, it was the entrepreneurs who became partners of the university who refuted the common myth that graduates leave the university only with a set of theoretical knowledge.
So, Maria Rumyantseva, Uliana Ruman, Anastasia Makarova, who completed their studies in the field of Textile Design, presented for defense a collection of crocs for "Shuisky calicos". Moreover, drawings for fabrics by Anastasia Makarova on the topic “African motifs are now being approved by the artistic council of the plant and may soon be put into production.
The work of Larisa Gudkova aroused great interest among the commission. Together with her leader, Tatyana Shcherbakova, she presented the results of a whole scientific study on dyeing and printing fabrics with natural dyes. The experts also appreciated a series of souvenir scarves for small towns of the Ivanovo region from Maria Golovanova (headed by Kolbashov O.G.), interior fabrics and panels by Maria Smirnova (headed by Kuzmicheva S.I.), a new interpretation of traditional Ivanovo calicoes from Anastasia Martyushova .
In the same breath, the defense of students enrolled in the profile "Costume Design" passed. Anticipating fashion shows with short but capacious reports, the students presented their industrial partner and reported in the most informative way about the essence of the given topic and the tasks they face.
Elizaveta Afanasyeva was the first to present her thesis on the podium. Under the guidance of Elena Maksimova, Liza has developed a collection of children's insulated clothing for Detline LLC (TM SherySheff), in which she has been working for a year now. Items from the collection have been launched into mass production and are available for order on marketplaces.
Victoria Kataeva created the avant-garde youth collection “I eat silence with spoons” for Vilana LLC. Daria Gorodova - a collection of casual wear "POLYN" for LLC "Home Style". Another bright and innovative collection based on rave culture was presented by Yulia Kuznetsova, who worked with Protex PIR LLC. The audience greeted with a standing ovation the URBAN men's capsule collection of jersey clothes, which Vitaly Deniskina prepared for Detsky Boom LLC. The MODUS VIVENDI collection by Anastasia Golitskova has also been launched into mass production by Knitwear Natali LLC. The authors of the works are also wards of Elena Maksimova.
Spectators also saw children's clothing models. Alina Satueva (headed by K.M. Demyanenko) managed to reflect the hip-hop style, so popular among young people, in children's clothing. And the second ward of Ksenia Demyanenko, Elena Molokova, presented the nostalgic collection Dove, in which modern forms of costume are rethought through the cultural fashion codes of the post-war period. Ksenia Parkanova also successfully worked with the cultural code. In her collection "Gothic matryoshka" Russian costume appeared in combination with a strict gothic style. The result is a daring avant-garde work, the same as the collection of Esmira Gasimova, filled with the visual aesthetics of Pink Floyd.
Summing up, we can add that three students of the department are already officially employed as designers at Ivanovo garment production, two of them have been working for more than a year. For Ivanovo fashion brands, students have developed 66 industrial designs of clothing, including six design capsules, 38 models have been put into production, 10 models are already on sale. JSC "KhBKShuiskie calico" launches a series of drawings by students of the Polytechnic University, made in full accordance with the style and technological conditions of the plant. All this confirms the quality of training students and the professionalism of the teachers of the department. When, as Svetlana Kostenko, editor-in-chief of the Legprom Review magazine, noted, each project is an event, each student is an individual!
