Ivanovo Polytechnic University at the Week of Textile and Light Industry
On March 14th, the Russian Week of Textile and Light Industry opened in Moscow. Both the Ivanovo Polytechnic University and the Ivanovo College of Light Industry represented the Ivanovo region in the discussion of the most topical issues of the industry within the business program.
According to the organizers of the Week, despite the circumstances, there are more visitors in the capital's Expocentre than last season. The INTERFABRIC and INLEGMASH exhibitions have taken place and are being held with great enthusiasm. This is confirmed by the exhibitors, for whom such attendance was "unexpected, but very pleasant". The wide business program aroused no less interest: the participants of round tables, meetings and business workshops note the relevance and deep practical orientation of the events.
Our university acted as the organizer of the business meeting “Personnel for the Russian light industry: specialties and qualifications, the current content of educational programs, pain points, the “Professionality” project”. The discussion was moderated by the rector of ISPU Evgeny Rumyantsev. The speakers, along with high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Education, representatives of business and professional associations in the education system, were Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of the Polytechnic University Alexey Matrokhin and Director of the Ivanovo College of Light Industry Olga Oparina.
During the business meeting, the rector of ISPU Evgeny Rumyantsev spoke about the experience and tasks of the Textile and Light Industry Competence Center operating on the basis of the university, as well as about the specifics of the implementation of educational programs and other effects from the active convergence of the educational process with business demands. Alexey Matrokhin presented the drafts of the developed standards for the operator of clothing production equipment and the technologist of textile products, he also described in more detail the university model for training personnel for the light industry. Olga Oparina identified “pain points” in the system of secondary vocational education and gaps in legislation.
After discussing the problems that caused the shortage of personnel in industrial enterprises, the participants of the meeting noted that the education system of the Russian Federation continues to undergo tremendous changes. This year, school graduates have an additional opportunity to master working professions on the basis of a new level –“professionalism”. And this innovation is not just another “commercial move”. Reforming the educational environment is designed to increase the interest in education on the part of applicants, it requires to improve the activities of colleges and technical schools and, most importantly, to draw the attention of enterprises not only to their own needs, but also to train personnel jointly with universities and colleges.
