Opening of the Year of Science and Technology at Ivanovo State Polytechnic University
On February 8th, the Day of Russian Science, the opening of the Year of Science and Technology took place at Ivanovo StatePolytechnicUniversity. The central event was the plenary discussion "Science for the Development of the Region" with the participation of scientific leaders of projects supported by the RFBR.
Discussion of the most interesting results of scientific research in the field of fundamental bases of virtual design of typical human figuresdigital twins, creation of a neural network for recognizing defects in woven fabrics, predicting the parameters of fiber composites, technologies for producing flax-containing innovative materials made the discussion lively and informal. In particular, the following question was asked by the audience: "What should textiles be considered as science?" Professor Yevgeny Kalinin's answer was unique: "There can be so many scientific solutions in one thread!"
The continuation of the discussion of one of the fundamental projects supported by the RFBR took place at a foresight session on automated recognition of defects in the textile and clothing industry using artificial intelligence with the participation of colleagues from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and industrial partners of our university.
The head of the department of design of garments, Professor Viktor Kuzmichev, together with a postgraduate student of the department, a young scientist Marina Surovova, introduced the students to the intricacies of the “eye-tracing” technology used to assess consumer preferences.
At the opening of the exhibition "Nanoart: the secret beauty of micro- and nanostructures", organized by the Department of Natural Sciences and Technosphere Safety, the children took part in the All-Russian student flash mob "Back to Science", the meaning of which is to return to normal life after a pandemic.
The first day of the Science Week ended with a pitch session of students and undergraduates of the Department of Materials Science, Commodity Science, Standardization and Metrology about the progress of work on their scientific research.
