Evgeny Rumyantsev: about the role of monitors in the life of the group

On October 17th , the next meeting of the rector of the Ivanovo Polytechnic Evgeny Rumyantsev with the group monitors took place.

“You, the monitors, manage the group, its future depends on you!” said Evgeniy Vladimirovich and added: “The monitor, formally, is the main person in the group. He interacts between students and the university administration, and how calm, friendly and active the group will be depends on him.” That is why the main issues that the rector proposed to discuss with the guys can be summarized as follows: leadership, discipline, focus on the main thing, opportunities, individual approach.

The discussion turned out to be lively. The elders actively participated in the conversation with the rector and bombarded him with questions. They were interested in the intricacies of working in a group dominated by foreign students, how to deal with truants, and where they could improve the skills of the prefects. We also talked about how best to inform students about the many and varied events held at the university and beyond.

The rector noted that since the monitors have to work with completely different people, they need to learn to find an approach to each person. As a measure of support, he promised to organize a course in psychology and leadership, and also invited the children to invite monitors of other universities to the Polytechnic one. “To achieve the goal, it is important to share experience,” emphasized Evgeniy Vladimirovich.
