In Suzdal, they talked about the conceptual image of our Big Ivanovo Manufactory (BIM) campus
During the weekend in Suzdal Design, the rector of the ISPU, Evgeny Rumyantsev, invited the design community to talk about how profile education should change in the “textile heart” of the country, and what the coolest design center for the Russian light industry should be like at the Big Ivanovo Manufactory interuniversity campus.
Let us remind you that Design Weekend or, as the organizers themselves call it, the XLII Congress of Design Figures, is a non-profit educational project that takes place in the format of conferences and workshops for the Russian design community several times a year in different cities of Russia. The main participants (on stage and in the hall) are young practitioners in the field of design, creative and diversified people, demonstrating originality, non-triviality, unusual ideas expressed and a pronounced desire for intellectual independence.
Who, if not they are able to influence our future? The rector of the Polytechnic University turned to them and, as an exercise for the development of creativity, suggested that they think together about the conceptual image of the future interuniversity Ivanovo campus. To begin with, I made a brief analysis of what we have today, and this is as a historical heritage - an abandoned factory complex in the very center of the city, the brand of the city that has not yet been worn out by time - "textile capital", a powerful industrial block of our region "textiles & clothing".
Ivanovo Polytechnic University is in this category with its schools of textile design and clothing design recognized by the professional community, with the Competence Center for textile and light industry and unique experience in bringing student design solutions to the market. And, of course, an understanding of the task of transforming the industry along with the personnel training system, plus the project for the construction of an interuniversity student campus "Bolshaya Ivanovo Manufactory". In response, all voiced proposals went to the "baggage of ideas and meanings", which will certainly be considered by experts.
