Summer school opened at Ivanovo Polytech

An unusual “school” shift for a hundred Ivanovo teenagers began at our university on May 30 and will last throughout June.

“Welcome to Ivanovo Polytech” was heard more than once from the stage of the assembly hall, during the first acquaintance of schoolchildren with our university, from which the Summer School began its work. A school where they teach children of different ages to be friends and introduce them to top professions, where learning resembles a big game, and powerful career guidance is replaced by a cool leisure program. “In our school it is not customary to raise your voice, give orders or give homework. “They don’t give grades here and don’t choose the most disciplined student,” the presenter instructed the children and emphasized, “the principle of “overtaking another” is not about us!”

She introduced the children and their parents to the teachers who will work on four successive educational tracks, and to the team of student counselors - wards of Anastasia Shchanitsina, who will not let the teenagers get bored after a hearty lunch. On the start of the university summer shift, schoolchildren were congratulated by the vice-rector for educational activities and educational work of the Ivanovo Polytechnic University Alexey Matrokhin, the chairman of the committee of youth policy, physical culture and sports of the Administration of Ivanovo Igor Baranov, the deputy chairman of the Council of the regional branch of the “Movement of the First” Mikhail Ivanov and the head of the department for interaction with scientific organizations and higher education organizations of the Department of Education and Science of the Ivanovo Region, Grigory Fedorov, who not only wished the children an interesting time, but also reminded that the Polytechnic University is actively involved in the project of creating an interuniversity campus “BIM”.

It is also worth recalling that for the seventh summer in a row, the doors of the Polytechnic University open to schoolchildren of grades 7-10, who are happy to learn new skills, choose professions and plan to continue mastering them in the future. To help children understand the world of modern professions and introduce them to those that will be relevant for our region in the next decade, this year the university has combined its best practices and the latest career guidance tools into a single project “Polytech – to the First: three steps to a profession”, received solid grant support from Movement of the First.

The project is multi-format and will last until the end of November. All this time, schoolchildren in whole classes will be able to visit the Polytechnic to get acquainted with a variety of professions and choose those that are closer and more interesting. The most responsible people can now build their own career path: career guidance testing is underway on the project website. After the summer holidays, the marathon of impressions will be replenished with various competitions, quests, excursions around the university, and interesting open lectures. The guys will also be welcome at meetings with the heads of Ivanovo enterprises and successfully employed graduates, with activists of Movement of the First, who will tell you how to become a participant. In addition, in the fall the university will host the festival “Live and Study in Ivanovo” and the exhibition “Be with BIM” will open. It’s a logical conclusion, since the campus should become not only a new cultural, educational and semantic center of the city, but also one of the links in the country’s intellectual belt, and today’s schoolchildren should be its masters.
